Barbara A. Bowman

Barbara Allyn Bowman (Thielecke), of Chesapeake Beach, MD, wife of the late Franklin O. Bowman, died peacefully at home on Wednesday August 22, 2018. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Enola (Raasch) Thielecke, brother Jack Thielecke and brother-in-law Alvin Platz.

Barbara leaves behind sister Patricia Platz, son Mike Bowman (Renee), daughter P.K. Bowman, grandchildren Jacquelyn, Cara, Katherine-Mae, Michael, great grandchildren Chase, Kai, Kaede and Cora, and Thomas Moomau whom she thought of like a son and who held a special place in her heart. Also survived by friends and neighbors whom she adored.  Born and raised in Milwaukee, WI where she attended West Division High School, class of 55. She joined the Navy at a time when it was uncommon for women to be in the armed forces. While in the Navy, she was stationed in the Washington, DC area where she met and married Frank. She stayed in the area and raised her family.  Barbara retired from a career in nursing. In her retirement, Barbara volunteered extensively in the North Beach, MD House and Garden Club.  A talented artist, Barbara also taught the Artful Codgers at the Calvert Pines Senior Center. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and amazing friend to so many!
