Barbara was born to Arthur and Rose Williams on November 23, 1929 in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
She loved holding conversations with people, music (Ella Fitzgerald was her favorite artist), singing, dancing, cooking, eating (the original Foodie), and discussing the Bible.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Sr. and Rose, her siblings: Elizabeth (Hector) Johnson, Vera Williams, Edna (Hugh) Cook Sr., Arthur Jr., Harriet (Albert) Talley. She is survived by her youngest sister, Loretta (Frank) Wooden of Hackensack, New Jersey.
Barbara attended Rutherford High School in New Jersey. She met Benjamin Hand while attending a dance in Delawanna, NJ. Her stunning inner and outer beauty astounded and attracted Benjamin to her and, of course, he “fell in love with her.” They were married on December 14, 1947, together they bore three children, this union lasted 70 years and 11 months.
Barbara and Benjamin were introduced to the spiritual Truths of Jehovah’s Witnesses by her oldest sister, Elizabeth. Barbara and Benjamin studied the Bible together and both were baptized on January 16, 1958 in Englewood, New Jersey.
Barbara worked for I.T.T. Federal in Nutley, NJ soldering and building electronic circuit boards until her retirement in 1969.
She became a full-time Pioneer in 1972, she was faithful, diligent and zealous in spreading Jehovah’s good news of his Kingdom, enlightening many people to “The Truth” and leading many to their baptism. She maintained her love of Jehovah and relied on Him to sustain her during her illness – which He did.
She leaves to mourn, her devoted and beloved husband Benjamin Hand and children: Steven (Dale) Hand, Sheila (Noel – deceased) Downer, Sabrina (Ronald) Bell. Her Grandchildren: Eric Hand, Justin Hand; Great-Grandchildren: Sabir Hand, Makeda (Geoffrey) Miller, Al-Nasir Hand; Great-Great Grandchildren: Isaiah Miller, Nimah Miller, Naila Hand; her sister Loretta Wooden and her many nieces and nephews.
We your family, will surely miss your beautiful smile and your uplifting spirit. Mother you always maintained a positive attitude and a great demeanor; we will always cherish the great memories of you and your laughter. We Love You! We look forward to seeing you again in the promised Resurrection. (John 5:28, 29).
