Our wonderful mother, Barbara Thompson Mason, born August 3, 1932, who lived in Pittsburgh, PA the majority of her life, peacefully passed away on the morning of Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at the age of 91, in Bowie, Maryland, where she lived for the past 14 months. She loved her husband, Kenny Mason, and children, Eric Mason and Kelli Edwards, passionately and sacrificially. She was very grateful for and enjoyed her parents, Albert and Willa Thompson, her sisters, Alberta Thompson and Vera Matthews and her only nephew, Roland Matthews Jr.(“Chip”). Our Mom loved to brag about her six grandchildren, (Collin, Kayla, Kenneth, Cameron, Kent, Karis), who she was extremely proud of! The extended family of our neighbors on and around Adelaide Street greatly enriched her life. She truly experienced joy via the various clubs and social groups that she participated in all of her adult life, especially, The Girlfriends, Inc, Pittsburgh Chapter. The Vintage Senior Center played a vital role in the quality of her life during her later years. Our mother loved to laugh and was very simple and practical. She often requested that her obituary read as follows, “She lived. She had fun! She died.” She was very pleased with the life she had and with the people she lived it with. Thank you to all who enjoyed this life with her. Barbara T. Mason was predeceased by Roland Matthews (brother in law), Louis and Dorathea Mason( brother and sister in law), Albert and Willa Thompson, Kenneth Mason and Alberta Thompson. She is survived by her sister, children, grandchildren and nephew.
