On December 28, 2019, Basil George Markulis, age 81, beloved husband of 53 years to Dorothea (nee Rosemary), died peacefully at home. He was the son of the late George and Athena Markulis, devoted father to George B. Markulis (Anne) and cherished grandfather of Maria, Anna, Natalia and Tara Markulis. Loving brother of Thomas G. Markulis, Mary Dardamanis, Olga Matsos, and the late Beatrice Jaskiewicz, Zinovia Prevas and Amalia Tomczewski. Also, brother-in-law to Edward (Veronica) Rosemary and Deborah (Tyrone) Smith. Survived by 12 nieces and nephews, 18 great nieces and nephews, and many cherished friends and parishioners at the Annunciation Cathedral, where he devoted many years of exemplary volunteer service.
A viewing will be held at the Greek Orthodox Cemetery Chapel of the Holy Resurrection, 5917 Windsor Mill Road in Baltimore County, on Thursday, January 2, 2019 from 1pm to 4pm, Trisagion Service at 2:30pm. Mr. Markulis will lie in repose at the cemetery chapel on Friday, January 3, 2019 from 10:30am to 11am, the funeral hour. Interment in the adjacent cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to the Philoptochos Society, Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation, 24 W. Preston Street, Baltimore, MD 21201.
