Carol Nutter Cooper, age 84, of Bowie, Maryland, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2022.
Carol was born on March 28, 1937, as the only child to Egbert and Francis Nutter in Wilmington, Delaware. She attended the Wilmington Friends High School. In May 1960, she graduated with a degree in Sociology from Dunbarton College in Washington, DC.
Carol was introduced to her husband Bob through a college friend in 1959. After dating a few months, Bob proposed, and they were married on July 2, 1960.
She worked for the C & P Telephone Company in Silver Spring, MD until she became pregnant with her first born. Carol and Bob both being only children, chose to have a large family. She was the proud mother of 8 children born within thirteen years.
They chose to raise their family in an upcoming area, Bowie, Maryland. They purchased their first home in the Buckingham section in February 1962. By 1968, they quickly outgrew this home and moved to Victoria Heights.
In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother, Carol was an active member at Sacred Heart parish. She was part of the Ladies Sodality, taught CCD, and volunteered up on the hill. Other interests included: sewing, bowling, gardening, and going to the beach. Carol was extremely supportive of her children’s sports and school activities. She was a selfless mother whose family was always her main priority.
She is survived by her husband, Bob, her children, Robert Jr., Rory (Kelly), Christopher (Sue), Michael (Lynne), Julie (Steve), Mary (Bill), Joanne (George), Katherine (Barry), 25 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and other loved ones including Missy and Darlene
