On Wednesday, December 28, 2022: Carol F. Hermann passed away peacefully at the age of 88.
Carol was born on September 16, 1934 in Washington, D.C. to Clarence and Agnes Hughes.
She was the 6th of 9 children, 5 brothers, Thomas (d); Richard (d), Robert, Martin (d); and Paul; 3 sisters, Mary (d), Ellen and Teresa.
Carol graduated from St. Anthony’s High School in Washington, DC and took a secretarial position at the Naval Research Lab, where she met the love of her life. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, George. She is survived by sons Michael (Rene), William (Mark), daughters Susan (Michael) and Karen (Christopher). Survivors also include three grandchildren, Jessica McKnight, Jennifer Berry and Kimberly Jackson as well as 11 great grandchildren.
Carol and George raised their family in Marlow Heights and Silver Spring before settling in Camp Springs. After retiring, she and George purchased a beach house in Nags Head, NC, where they spent many happy times relaxing, trying new restaurants, biking, exploring local history and nature sites and most of all enjoying the company of family and friends.
Carol continued to live in Camp Springs after George’s death until she moved to the Brightview senior community in 2021.
Carol was a devoted Catholic. She attended daily Mass often and dedicated countless hours to volunteer service. She had many creative talents including sewing, needlework, crocheting, and ceramics. She was an avid bingo player and super shopper, but her greatest joy came from spending time with family.
Mass of Christian burial on Monday, January 9th at 11:00 am at St. Mary’s of the Assumption Catholic Church, Upper Marlboro, Md.
