Heaven just got a lot more interesting. Carole Sharon Narcavage passed away peacefully on March 27, 2025, surrounded by people who loved her. She leaves behind Joe (her husband of 59 years) who somehow managed to keep up with her for all these years; Laura, JoEllen, and Pam, her three fiercely independent daughters (and her greatest accomplishments); Scott, Aaron, and Dan, her three sons-in-law, men brave and strong enough to join this family; and Grace, Emma, Dale, Libby, Charlie, Ben, Meg, and Katie, her cherished grandchildren who always knew where to go for snacks and unfiltered life advice.
She was a devout Catholic of the highest order—the kind who never missed Mass, even on vacation (much to her family's dismay). While others packed sunscreen and beach towels, she packed a Mass schedule for every local parish within a 20-mile radius. She loved God abundantly, followed Jesus faithfully, and had a few strongly worded suggestions for how to improve church operations.
In fact, Carole had opinions about everything—and she was right about a good number of them. Whether she was running a tight ship at Prince George's community college as an all-knowing, all-seeing secretary, organizing a volunteer project at church or the girls’ schools, or planning the next family party, Carole made things happen.
Yes, she was bossy, but her heart was even bigger than her opinions. Carole adored her family and made sure everyone knew it—usually with a hug, a lecture, or a sandwich (sometimes all three at once). Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and each of them now carries a piece of her sass, stubbornness, and unmatched ability to get things done. She loved people, never met a stranger, and talked to anyone in any line she ever stood in.
Carole was a proud stay-at-home mom and feminist who always believed women (her daughters especially) could be anything they wanted to be. She taught them to work hard, speak up for themselves, and make sure women had a seat at every table (preferably at the head). She was generous to a fault, willing to give her time, money, energy, and unsolicited advice to anyone who needed it.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you do something in her honor: speak your mind, hug your loved ones tight, and for the love of all that is holy, don’t leave the house with wet hair or holes in your jeans. Please consider a donation to the Alzheimer's Association in her name.
Rest in peace, Mom. We promise to keep arguing over who was your favorite.
