Catherine Mae Henry

Catherine Henry, 68, passed away on July 8, 2021 with her family by her side in Bowie, Maryland. 

Cathy was born March 9, 1953 in Hillside, Maryland. She met the love of her life Michael Henry as a teenager. They had three children that they raised in Silver Spring and Bowie. 

Cathy loved to bake and was known as “the cake lady” to many. All her delicious baked goods will be missed. She was a big fan of the Washington Capitals and was glad they finally won a Stanley Cup. She worked for Monumental Sports in the accounting department and loved her job and all her co-workers. She loved to celebrate holidays, especially Christmas and Halloween. If there was a Christmas movie on, she was watching it. She was super resilient and beat cancer several times. On days when she was not feeling well she would say “well I’ll get through it.”

Cathy’s spirit is carried on by her children Tina Henry-Barrus, Lisa Henry, and Michael Henry, brother Mike Kelly, four grandchildren Brittney Henry, Shyanne Dottellis, Anya Barrus and Rachel Barrus, and seven grand dogs. 

A memorial service will be held at Beall Funeral Home on Thursday July 15th from 1-3pm (service at 2:30pm) in Bowie, Maryland. In lieu of flowers, Cathy would have liked plants. Even in her final days at home, she was asking her family to remove the flowers from the house, but she diligently cared for her plants. Cathy was also very serious and concerned about the pandemic and so we would request that if you are vulnerable or concerned in any way, to please stay home. Your health and safety should be your first priority.
