Cecilia “Cecil” Brizuela Wife to Daniel, Mother to Ifemi and David, Daughter to Pedro and Jocelyn, Sister to Catherine, Cynthia and Cyril, and a dear friend to all.
Cecil passed away in peace in the late evening of the 22nd of July, 2022 at the Hospice of Chesapeake Pasadena, Maryland surrounded by her family and friends, after a valiant battle with cancer.
Cecil is survived by Daniel and their sons Ifemi Daniel who is 10 and David Oluwaseun Peter 8, who shall continue to honour her by living their lives in joy and gratitude.
Cecil left her home in the Philippines, in 2003 at the age of 26 to work as an Oncology nurse first at Sibley Memorial Hospital then at Virginia Hospital Center where she led the Cyberknife Department for a few years—jobs she was very passionate about. Since then she transitioned into education where she taught nursing and became the Dean of Nursing School, was an Area Manager at Arbonne International and being the writer that she was, started writing poetry. She has a masters degree in Nursing and was in the process of doing her PhD which she would have loved to finish had she been given the chance.
Cecil lived a very busy life dedicated to her friends and family. To say that she loved to love on people is an understatement. She wanted to leave a legacy, to be the person to start a change, to be an inspiration for someone to do better. She always said that it is more about being the right person to start the right crowd rather than just being in one. She was a leader and people were her investment. For her, to touch one life, is to change her own. She loved, she gave, and never asked anything in return. She wanted a legacy centered on paying blessings forward.
Cecil’s life may have been short, but it was beautiful and well lived. Her one wish before she passed was for her boys to never forget her. Cecil, up to her very last breath, has managed to bring everyone together with a goal to add life to Ifemi and David.
Funeral services will be at Beall Funeral Home on August 19th from 1:00pm to 3:30pm followed by a Mass on Saturday August 20th at 10:00am.
