Charles Arthur Jackson

Charles Arthur Jackson, 88, of Bowie, Md., formerly of Berryville, Va., died February 27, 2019 at the home of his daughter and son-in-law Pamela J. and Steven L. Forbes. Mr. Jackson was born Oct. 20, 1930, son of the late William Edgar and Catherine Kennan Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Bay Russell Jackson, whom he married April 3, 1950 and she died on October 23, 2014; brother William Edgar Jackson Jr., and grandson William Ellis Blair Jackson.

In addition to his daughter and son-in-law, Charles is survived by his son, CA “Chuck” Jackson Jr. and wife Jean P. Jackson of Madison, Va.; three grandchildren, Mindee L. Mosher and husband Daryl of Bowie; Charles A. Jackson III of Maurertown, Va., and Joseph Faulkner Jackson and fiancée Caisee Fogle of Falls Church, Va.; four great-grandchildren, Miranda Lynn Martin, Alex Walter Mosher, Audrey Gail Mosher and Amber Mae Mosher, all of Bowie. He is also survived by his cousins, Robert E. Jackson of Berryville, Va., and Dyann Bouboushian of Chicago; and nieces Connie J. Wilson of Berryville, Va., Jody Geanious Jenkel of Edinburg, Va., and Linda Fearnow Rendalen of Richmond, Va.

Mr. Jackson was employed by the U.S. Government’s Federal Emergency Management Agency, retiring as a welding and sheet metal supervisor, in 1993, after 41 years of service. He also served in the Virginia National Guard for 11 years, leaving as a Staff Sergeant; a member of Berryville Baptist Church in Berryville, Va.; a charter member of Valley Grasshoppers Club in Winchester, Va., a 21-year former member, president and fair chairman of the Clarke County Ruritan Club in Berryville, Va., as well as several breakfast groups made up of former National Guard members and retirees from Mount Weather.

A graveside service will be held at a later date where he and his wife will be inurned together at Green Hill Cemetery, in Berryville.

Arrangements in Maryland are being handled by Beall Funeral Home of Bowie. Local arrangements are being handled by Enders and Shirley Funeral Home and Crematory of Berryville, Va.
