Charles Thomas Rhodes Sr “Tommy”
from Upper Marlboro Md passed away peacefully in his sleep on the early morning of August 16, 2020.
Tommy was born on May 15, 1947 to the late Robert and Agnes Rhodes Sr in Washington DC.
He enlisted in the Army on 3/21/66. Became an Airline Engine Mechanic and Crew Chief. He served in the Vietnam War and made rank of Sargent before honorably discharging on 3/20/69.
Tommy married the love of his life and mother of his children, the late Patricia Rhodes on 2/14/70. He served the DC Police Dept as a Crime Scene Search Tech for over 20 years before retiring in 1995.
He is survived by his daughter, Sandra Pick, son Charles T Rhodes Jr, son in law Steven Pick, daughter-in-law April Rhodes, and his 5 granddaughters, Karlye, Abbie, Allison, Melanie and Jamie. His sister Elizabeth Wise, brother, Robert Rhodes Jr, and so many close family members and friends.
Tommy loved spending time with his granddaughters and cheering on their accomplishments. He enjoyed fishing on his brother’s boat and the occasional cold one and crabs with family and friends at a few of his favorite places: Happy Harbor, Mike’s and Top of the Hill.
Tommy passed away with the longest running achieving title, Captain of the Debate Team for his entire family. A title solely made up in his own mind. As any of you would know if you’ve ever been on the opposing side of his opinion. ߥ°
He was a loving, stubborn, brave and hard working man with a great sense of humor who undoubtedly will be missed.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Hospice of the Chesapeake in his name.
