Constance Turner Walton

October 22, 1955 — December 18, 2023

Potomac

Constance Geraldine Turner Walton was born on Saturday, October 22, 1955 (68 years old), to the devoted and loving parents Alexandria Powell Turner and the late Robert J. Turner.  Constance departed peacefully on Monday, December 18, 2023, in Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Hospital, Rockville, MD. She is preceded in death by her father, Robert J. Turner.

Constance received Christ early under the belated Bishop Norton B. Wilder of Prayer Faith Temple Church of God in Christ, Lynchburg, VA.  She graduated from Northwestern High School in Hyattsville, MD, then furthered her education and attended New Hope & Life School of Religion, Capitol Heights, MD.  During her time there, she received her Associate of Arts degree in Ministerial Studies on May 30, 1999, a Certificate of World Evangelism on May 30, 1999, and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Christian Education on July 20, 2002.

She joined the New Covenant Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, Colmar Manor, MD, after moving to Maryland under the leadership of the late Bishop Juanita Turner and later Pastors David and Adrienne Smith. She was ordained a Deacon with her husband, Peter, in 2009 at New Covenant, and they were active together in the ministry.  She was faithful as an usher and worked in the Media, Prayer, and Evangelistic ministries. She was also instrumental in laying the foundation for the school library, where she organized it by herself and oversaw the completion of it. When and where help was needed in the church, she was faithfully there with her hands extended. She served New Covenant for 38 years until her illness.

Constance was a special wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend.  She will always be remembered for her love, caring, and generous spirit for everyone who encountered her.  She was a soldier to help those who were in need.  She was never selfish but selfless.  One of her favorite chapters in the Bible was Psalms 91, which brought her comfort and encouragement, especially during her illness.  Every conversation she had was about the Lord, and her desire was for everyone she encountered to gain salvation and have everlasting life with Jesus someday.  When she wasn’t fellowshipping and evangelizing, she loved spending time in the mountains of Massanutten with the love of her life, Peter.

She leaves to cherish her memories a devoted husband of 22 years, Peter Walton, and son, Stacy Ramon Turner, one granddaughter, Shannon Nichole Turner, and stepdaughter, Angel Walton. Six sisters and one brother survive her: Patricia Baxley, Michelle Bradley (Kevin), and Melzetta Smith, all of Lynchburg, VA; Jessie Turner Snead (Larry), Cary, NC;  Betty Jean Turner, Silver Springs, MD; Rosalind Lewis (Larry), Upper Marlboro, MD; Thomas (Bobby) Turner, Cheltenham, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews, step-grandkids, cousins, and special caregivers.
