Constantine Stavrou

December 18, 1932 — December 29, 2020

A light went out in our world on December 29, 2020, when Constantine Stavrou, “Taso” as he was known to his family in Greece, passed away peacefully in his sleep, just weeks after his 88th birthday..

Constantine was born in Samos, Greece in 1932, seventh child to Christos and Vasiliki Stavrou.  He married Anne Caraliotas in 1962, and moved to the United States.  He was the devoted husband to the late Anne Stavrou (nee Caraliotas); beloved father to Elizabeth Paraskevopoulos and her husband Nicholas; Nick Stavrou and his wife Jeannette; loving grandfather of Eleni and Anastasia Paraskevopoulos, and Alex and Christopher Stavrou.

He was deeply devoted to his family both here and in Greece.  He instilled in all of us a deep sense of loving pride for his family, country, and God.  He was very proud of being Greek and wholeheartedly honored to be an American citizen.

He was his wife’s primary caregiver for the last years of her life and never asked for outside help. Despite having a heart condition with surgery imminent, he persevered and never complained. He was always there to help a friend in need. We all knew that he made many sacrifices over the years, but he never spoke of them. He loved his life and his family and he lived a decent life with integrity. May his memory be eternal…

Due to restrictions from COVID-19, there will be a private funeral for immediate family at the Greek Orthodox Chapel on Windsor Mill Road, in Baltimore, MD on Monday, January 4, 2021.  Friends may gather at the George Washington Memorial Park, 234 Paramus Road, Paramus, NJ on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 for a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. We respectfully ask you to practice social distancing for the safety of all of us.
