Creusa Costa Rodrigues Leary, the first child of Mr. Artur Rodrigues da Silva and Mrs. Ridete Pinto da Costa (both are now deceased). Creusa was born in the northeastern coastal city of Recife in Brazil on November 14, 1942. She had six siblings – sisters Marlucia Rodrigues Costa, Gloria Gean Rodrigues, Airan Rodrigues Silva, Nileda Rodrigues Costa. And then two brothers, Valtemir Rodrigues Costa (deceased) and Valdir Rodrigues Costa.
Creusa and Oscar Leary (her husband to-be) met in Recife in October 1965 and a budding relationship was started which led to a loving marriage, they then wedded in May of 1966. Creusa was able to get an Immigrant Visa and able to come to the United States of America in late December 1966. During early 1967 they lived in Boston (MA) and then moved to Cape Canaveral (FL). From this loving relationship, on July 3rd , 1968 a wonderful son was born named Jose Ugo Leary.
Creusa’s wonderful son - Jose and his special wife Kristina Yi Leary, have two wonderful teen-aged grandsons – Beckett and Graham Leary. She loved to talk about her son and her grandsons all of the time.
The family did live and work overseas. The first three years of Jose's life were spent in Madagascar. It was then that her sparkling personality shined. She learned the local language and became an excellent price negotiator at the local markets.
Creusa was very talented – she could make dried floral arrangements, paintings, design formal dresses, jewelry and antiques items. She loved to meet and talk with anyone. No one was a stranger for very long around her. She loved to cook Brazilian Foods – especially Feijoada, Brazil's national dish which consisted of black beans cooked with six or seven different kinds of meats and lots of spices. She also loved to cook fish in Coconut Milk.
When she lived in Maryland she started a nail salon and women's fashion boutique business, aptly named Brazilian Nails.
Creusa was dearly loved by her family and friends and will really be missed.
