Ms. Cynthia Mae Cox, 67, of Pasadena CA, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, September 19, 2023. She was continuously surrounded and supported by her loving family/caregivers.

Ms. Cynthia “Cindy” Cox was born in Akron, Ohio on December 19, 1955, to James F. Cox and Larnell Walton Cox. Cindy attended Berry Elementary School, Akron, Ohio and graduated from Pasadena High School, (PHS) Pasadena CA.

After graduation she pursued and was awarded a Certified Nursing Assistant Certification (CNA) in 1975. Cindy worked as a CNA for 25 years. She worked in assistant living facilities and in-home private duty care.

During the early 1990s she pursued and received a certification in Drug and Alcohol Abuse Counseling. Cindy worked as a Substance Abuse Counselor at Casa De Las Amigos and Protypes Rehabilitation Center. She enjoyed motivating women while in sobriety.

She owned and operated a Sober Living House for Women and Children effected/affected by HIV/AIDS in Pasadena CA. She owned and operated A Place of Miracles for 25 years. Cynthia had a huge heart. She loved fellowship and service work. She loved the Lord and believed in helping and being a beacon for those voiceless individuals.

She married Charles "Sunny” Washington and to this union two children were born. Cynthia and Charles later divorced and that led to her love for Michael McGowan. To their union one child was born.

Ms. Cox was a woman of faith. She is a former member of Good News Baptist Church Pasadena, CA, Macedonia Baptist Church, Baltimore, MD and Greater Mt. Nebo AME Church Bowie, MD.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her father, James F. Cox; She leaves to cherish in her memories her Mother, Larnell Walton Cox; children, Kenneth D. Washington, Charles Washington (Angela), Dr. Latrice C. Washington-Williams (Reginald), and Michelle McGowan; grandchildren, Reginald Williams Jr, James Smith-Washington, Ronnell Williams, and Joevon Walker;  sibling, Lavaida Buckley; Nephews, Leon Williams, Lamar Williams (Shaunte); Niece, Ganesha Board (Deilonzo); a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
