Darrell T. Williams, 53 passed away at his home in Bowie, on August 24, 2020 in the company of his loving wife. He was born and raised in Washington D.C. He was the youngest son born to Walter and Gertrude Williams and was raised by Dennis and Thomasena Lockhart.
Darrell was passionate about boxing and was fortunate to be able to work with and train youth and adults at Temple Boxing in Crofton. Darrell loved working with kids because he hoped to not only teach them the art of boxing but instill in them confidence, self-esteem, discipline and a sense of community. Darrell spent countless hours studying and perfecting his own boxing style and technique closely mirroring that of his boxing idol Floyd Mayweather. At the time of his death, he was doing private training at various gyms and working out with his special group of “Boxing Buddies”. He also enjoyed running, listening to music and reading daily scripture. He was a hard worker and never complained no matter how challenging things would be.
But what brought Darrell the most joy in his life were his grandchildren, Sa’Miyah, Syiah, Nygel, Maryah and Noah. He spent countless hours with each of them, always with a huge smile his face. He was currently teaching his constant companion Miyah how to cook and was always finding fun things to do with each of his grandchildren. He was very proud of his children's accomplishments and the caring adults they had become. He was the caregiver to his family, selflessly taking care of his disabled wife, and his children and grandchildren.
Darrell had a happy and lighthearted nature and was famous for giving out nicknames to his friends and family. Once he gave you a nickname it was yours for life and you would forever be known by that name!
He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Sharon Ann Seeley-Williams, his three children Shannon, Crystal and Darrell Jr., his grandchildren, Sa’Miyah, Syiah, Nygel, Maryah and Noah and many siblings, in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. He will be sorely missed.
