David William Stennett of Odenton, Maryland passed away on December 22, 2020 after a seven-year battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born in Richmond, Virginia on August 10, 1956 to William and Elizabeth Stennett. As a child of foreign missionaries, he grew up on the mission field in Guatemala with his three younger brothers. He graduated with a B.A. in International Studies from American University. He married the love of his life, Mary “Susie” Sharpe on April 17, 1982. They had two daughters, Rebecca and Amy. David began his career working for Wang Laboratories for many years before transitioning to the Federal Government. He was a dedicated civil servant, beloved by everyone he worked with. Over the years he served in each of his church homes ending at First Baptist of Crofton. He was a Sunday School teacher, deacon, leader of youth groups, and his favorite, singing as a member of the choir. Dave was a dedicated and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was always ready to help others where help was needed. Even in his own struggle with pancreatic cancer he was selflessly willing to allow doctors to further their study of this horrific disease. He went through many clinical trials that furthered cancer research. He was a favorite patient at Johns Hopkins always having a kind word for fellow patients and caregivers alike. To know David was to love his gentle and humble spirit. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Susie, daughters, Rebecca Reynolds (Erik) of Chesapeake, VA, Amy Smith (Wesley) of Bowie, MD, grandchildren, Kate and Jack, parents, William and Elizabeth Stennett of Richmond, VA, and brothers, Paul, Steve, and John Stennett along with many nieces and nephews.
