David J. Szostak

On December 18, 1985, David Joseph Szostak was born to Michael and Anne Szostak in Lansing Michigan.  He died on March 28, 2019, after a courageous battle with chronic lung disease.   All who met David experienced his intense love and interest in them.  In his students he sparked a desire for learning.  David was always plumbing the depths of knowledge on any and all subjects.  His passion for learning and teaching inspired others who knew him.  All the fruit of his life sprung from his deep love for God whom he trusted with his whole life. 

David attended Ave Maria University in Ave Maria, Florida where he received his BA in Philosophy and his Masters in Theology.  He met his wife Karly at AMU and they married on June 13, 2009.  In 2010 they moved to Bowie, MD where he attended the John Paul II Institute on Marriage and Family and he received his second Masters in Theology and his STL (Licentiate in Sacred Theology). 

He completed his course studies for his STD (Doctorate in Sacred Theology) and was working on his doctoral dissertation when he died.  He taught at STAT (St Thomas Aquinas Tutorial) for several years.  

David is preceded in death by his grandparents, Raymond and Lillian Szostak, Francis and Alma Locatelli.   

David is survived by his dear wife Karly and his four precious children Rosemarie (8), Joshua (6), Lillianna (4) and Andre (1 1/2); parents, Michael and Anne Szostak, brother Jonathan (Maria) Szostak and their four children, Gabriel (8), Emily (7), Adelina (5) and Caleb (3); grandmother, Carol Burkhart: in-laws, Doctors Keith and Christina Burkhart; brothers-in-law Kyle and Christopher (Mary) Burkhart, numerous  aunts, uncles and cousins. 

Family will receive friends on Thursday, April 4, 2019 from 6pm to 8pm at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 NW Crain Hwy. (Rt. 3 South) Bowie, MD and at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 16501 Annapolis Rd., Bowie, MD on Friday, April 5, 2019 from 11:30am to 12:30am, followed by a funeral mass at 12:30pm. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
