David Bruce White

June 27, 1938 — February 12, 2025

Coumbia

David Bruce White was 86 when he entered eternal rest on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2025, a bit after midday. He leaves so many here on this planet: his wife Ruth Alice White, his son John Warren White (we lost his younger son Donald White in 1994) and their mother Dawn Creek. Also his step-daughter Tanya Krubit and her son Shane; his sister Susan Northcutt and her sons Awtry, Eric and Clark; his half-brother Michael Dailey; step siblings John and Hazel Ellis, and Adele Hebert; his cousin Steve Lewis and wife, Diane; and other relatives he visited on regular trips along the East Coast, including to Florida and his home state of Vermont. So many others will miss Dave: members of his Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter; fellow early AM regulars at the CA Athletic Club, which he frequented religiously until mid-October 2024; a coffee group at Panera on Dobbin Road; some long-time members of Kittamaqundi Community Church; many in the local folk music scene, including presenters, musicians, fellow attendees; people he knew through DC Enneagram groups; people he corresponded with all over the world about his stamp collection and more. Based on personality inventories, David was a Myers-Briggs ISTJ and an Enneagram 5 for people in the know about such things. He was very private but warmly shared his knowledge and great smile when approached. He was a keen observer and very calm, solid and dependable. He put his values into action, joining in work to rehab houses with Church of the Savior and the local Christmas in April Habitat for Humanity groups. He was very supportive and loyal to family members and friends. He was an extensive reader who enjoyed discovering more about himself and others through the Enneagram. He loved learning about many things including about history, especially military history. He was dedicated to extensive research on his genealogy as well as stamp and coin collections. And so much more. He served 20 years in the Air Force and 27 years at NSA, first as an employee and then as a part-time contractor working in the same office doing Russian language transcription. David had multiple health issues in the past several decades and each time regained his strength and health. Unfortunately, he had a serious hospitalization in late October 2024 and struggled to regain his strength and ultimately passed on Feb. 12, 2025. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to a charity such as the Wounded Warriors Family Support (David gave regularly to support Veterans) or Kittamaqundi Community Church, a church David attended for many years.
