As well as his six grandchildren Joshua (Lindsay) Winger, Michael Winger, Marideth (Josiah) Canzanella, Alayna Kuzel, Brianna (David) Lambropoulos and Blase Salvatore, III. And his great joys: eight great grandchildren: Luke, Grant, Max and Garrett Winger, Wesley and Easton Canzanella and David and Ella Lambropoulos.
He is preceded in death by his oldest son, Douglas (Dawn Ellen) Winger and his father and mother, Joseph and Lillian Winger, and brother Richard Winger.
He was born November 16, 1930, in Lawrenceville, Illinois and lived in Indiana, Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas before moving to Glen Burnie, Maryland in 1973. He served in the United States Navy from 1952 – 1956. He had a radio broadcasting degree from University of Houston, which reflects his love of music and then later received an Industrial Engineering degree from SMU.
David worked for USF&G Insurance Co for 27 years until his retirement in 1991. He loved World War II history and movies, finance and investing and all things about the weather. But the most important part of his life was his Christian faith, his church and the people there. He made the focus of his life about serving and helping other people. David was a sweet-mannered gentleman who continued to thank people even to his last spoken words.
A visitation and memorial service to celebrate his life will be held Wednesday, Dec. 21 at Grace Baptist Church, 7210 Racetrack Rd, Bowie, MD. The visitation will be from 10 – 11 am followed by the funeral service at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Baptist Church for help with mission work around the world.
