On Tuesday, August 20, 2024, Deloris Ann Dunnington entered into eternal peace to be with her heavenly father.
She was the daughter of the late John Francis and Louise Chase Dunnington. She was born on July 9, 1942, in Indian Head, Maryland. After graduating from Pomonkey High School in Pomonkey, Maryland in 1960, she attended Morgan State University.
Deloris was a long-term employee of the Federal Government, spending most of her career at the Department of Agriculture. After retiring from the Federal Government, she pursued many endeavors, including, Mediation Program Coordinator for the Prince George’s County Human Relations Commission, Substitute Teaching, and a self-owned catering business. She was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church in Upper Marlboro, Maryland and attended Mass there every Sunday until her illness precluded her attendance.
Family was important to Deloris (also known as Honey). Throughout her life she attended family functions, always willing to lend a helping hand. In addition to the Dunnington and Chase families, she was also very close to the family of her special friend, Willie Moses, who preceded her in death and was close to his children, John, Willie, Melvin, Alton, Ruth, and Rosa as well as their children. Deloris had a great love for her dog Polo who she raised from a puppy and loved to spoil with special treats.
Deloris was preceded in death by her brothers Retired Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Comilis Dunnington and Retired Master Sergeant Charles Augustas Dunnington, sisters Audrey Mae Dunnington and Alice Victoria Aaron, nephew Zachary Benton Aaron, and niece Deborah Antoinette Dunnington.
She leaves to mourn, one brother, James Bernard Dunnington, one sister, Elizabeth Regina Johnson, brother-in-law Alonzo Johnson, nephews Rodney Blaine Dunnington, Lloyd Everett Thomas, David Anthony Dunnington, nieces Rhonda Victoria Aaron, and Kimberly Caprice Dorsey and a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
