It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Diana Lynn Ramnarine on Monday, March 18, 2024. She was 73 years old.
Diana was born on August 20, 1950, to Henry and Mary Wortman and was raised in Tacoma Park/Langley Park, Maryland. She attended Tacoma Academy, where she laid the foundation for a life dedicated to compassion and service.
Diana was a remarkable woman known for her wisdom, love, and selflessness. She dedicated over 30 years of her life to running a successful daycare service in her home, nurturing, and caring for over 150 children who became like family to her. Her kindness and nurturing nature made her beloved by all who knew her.
In addition to her childcare work, Diana was a passionate advocate for love and connection. She founded and ran a singles matchmaking club called Odyssey, where she played a pivotal role in bringing many couples together, resulting in lasting marriages. Diana also dedicated her time to helping those in need, volunteering with individuals with special needs, domestic violence survivors, and single teenage mothers.
Diana is survived by her children: Rhonda Palmes, Belinda Ramnarine, Rena Ramnarine, and Ryan Ramnarine; her grandchild: Mayah Ward; and her siblings: Mary Ann Nicholson, Daniel Wortman, and Rose Scully. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samaroo Ramnarine, her parents, Henry and Mary Wortman, and her sister, Betty Lou Robinson.
A viewing will be held on Friday, March 29th, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by funeral services from 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Beall Funeral Home, located at 6512 Crain Hwy, Bowie, MD. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Maryland Network Against Domestic Violence in Diana's honor.
Diana Lynn Ramnarine will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her kindness, love, and unwavering dedication to others. May she rest in peace, knowing that her legacy of compassion lives on in the hearts of those she touched.
