Dr. DiJaria “Dee” Henderson-Greene, 59, of Upper Marlboro, MD, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2024, surrounded by family. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on March 15, 1965, to John Tyrone Johnson and Vivian Delores Henderson, Dee’s life was a testament to her unwavering dedication to education and her profound love for her family.
Dee was the beloved wife of Gerald K. Greene, with whom she shared 36 wonderful years, having wed on October 9, 1987. She was the devoted mother of Leah, Erin, and Chris, and the proud grandmother of Kodi, with whom she shared a great love of arts and crafts. Dee’s radiant smile and infectious happiness could light up any room, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
A graduate of Overbrook High School in Philadelphia (1982), Dee pursued her passion of education, earning a B.S. in Elementary Education from West Chester University (1986), an M. Ed in Guidance and Counseling (1995) and Special Education (2010) from Bowie State University, and an Ed. D in Educational Leadership from Bowie State University (2020). Dee dedicated 36 years of her life to PG County Public Schools, transitioning from classroom teacher to guidance counselor and retiring as a Pupil Personnel Worker, where she inspired countless students and colleagues with her tireless work and unwavering commitment to their growth and well-being.
Dee’s dedication to her students was matched by her love for her family. She is survived by her husband, children, father, siblings Darcea, Rodney, Marcell, Tamara, Tyrone, and Anthony, many nieces and nephews, as well as a large group of friends who will forever remember her as a beacon of joy and positivity. Her kindness, passion, and dedication touched the lives of many, leaving a legacy of love and inspiration.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Dee’s name to the American Cancer Society or Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
