Douglas Wayne Gray (Doug) 74, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2024. A long-time resident of Port Republic, MD, he will be deeply missed by his family and friends alike.
Doug was born on April 20,1950, in Washington DC to Joseph I and Mary Louise Gray. He grew up in Bladensburg, and Capitol Heights and graduated from Central Senior High School in 1968. He resided in Bowie before moving and working in Reno, Nevada along with one of his friends. He returned to Maryland where he purchased his home in Port Republic, Maryland.
Doug spent his career in the printing field, first learning the trade from his dad at his uncle’s shop, Gray’s Printing in Washington DC, then joined his father at Peake Printers in Cheverly, MD. He eventually worked at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Washington DC where he did Offset Printing from which he retired in May 2014.
Doug made many friends during his lifetime and remained a close friend to many. He was a soft-spoken guy who liked to golf but loved to fish and play poker. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and within the past year his sister Cheryl Blechinger. He is survived by his sister Janice Reinsmith and brother Joe Gray II, his nieces Christine Moats, Heather Reinsmith, and Kathleen Whittington, and his great nieces Jocelyn and Madelyn Moats and great nephews, Walker Moats and Gauge Whittington.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
Contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation in memory of Doug.
