Drucilla S. Triplitt

August 27, 1940 — April 10, 2019

Drucilla S. Triplitt passed away after a lengthy illness on April 10, 2019. She was born on August 27, 1940 in Port Isabel, Texas to Merle (Jiggs) and Billie Shilling. She grew up in the lower Rio Grande Valley in Donna, Texas. As a child, she always loved music, singing and animals. She was voted Donna High School’s Band Sweetheart in 1957. She was also voted Most Beautiful Girl at Donna High School her senior year in 1958. She attended college at Texas A & I.
 
Drucilla (Drue) met her future husband James (Jimmy) Triplitt on a blind date in 1956. They married in Austin, Texas in 1960. They recently celebrated 58 years of marriage. Drue and Jimmy adopted their daughter, Tracy, in 1968. The three of them lived in Austin, Texas until 1975. Then they lived in Montgomery, Alabama until 1982, whereupon, they  moved to Bowie, Md.
 
Drue was stay at home mother and an excellent homemaker. She was a fantastic cook and an immaculate housekeeper (always whistling while she worked). She was a kind, loving person. She was the world’s best mother and wife. She is beloved and will be greatly missed. Her love for her family was strong.
 
Drucilla grew up in the church and was a very faithful woman. She was blessed with a beautiful singing voice. She sang in many church and civic choirs.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jiggs and Billie Schilling; her step-mother, Nancy Walker; her sister-in-law, Helen Schwarz; her brother-in-law, Carroll Schwarz; her mother-in-law, Hazel Triplitt; and her father-in-law, J.P. Triplitt.
 
Drucilla is survived by her loving husband, Jimmy Triplitt; her grateful daughter, Tracy Finnerin; her awesome son-in-law, John Finnerin; her beloved grandchildren, Madison, Jack and Delaney Finnerin; her nieces and nephews, Janet (Ron) Echols, Elizabeth “Crickett” (Mike) England, James (Cindy) Schwarz and great nephews and nieces.
 
The memorial service will be held on Monday, April 15, 2019 at 11:00 at St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church, 14900 Annapolis Rd., Bowie, Md. 20715.  Reception immediately to follow.
