Good morning family and friends. We are gathered here today to honor the memory of Edna Mae Pryce, a truly remarkable woman who touched the lives of so many of us. Edna was born to Theophilus and Agatha Anderson on June 14, 1933, in Portland, Jamaica. In 1971, she immigrated to the United States, joining her husband in Florida, who has since predeceased her. Two years later, the family moved to Maryland, where she worked for Allen Foods until her retirement in 1996.It’s difficult to sum up Edna in just a few words, but when I think of her, the first things that come to mind are her love of sports, her sharp intellect, and her deep capacity for love. Edna had an undeniable passion for sports, and it wasn’t just about the thrill of the game. Whether she was cheering for her favorite team or engaging in a friendly debate about a recent match, Edna found joy in the camaraderie, strategy, and discipline that sports bring. For her, sports were a reflection of life—full of challenges, teamwork, and moments of pure victory. But Edna wasn’t just a sports enthusiast. She was incredibly sharp and curious, always keeping track of everyone’s birthdays and marriages. Her sharp wit and intellect made conversations with her engaging and thought-provoking. If you ever had the chance to discuss anything with Edna—especially sports—you knew she could hold her own. After her retirement, Edna developed a passion for gardening. She spent countless hours growing vegetables in her backyard and generously shared her harvest with neighbors and friends. Her garden was an extension of her generous spirit, always giving, always nurturing. Beyond her love of sports and intellect, Edna’s heart stood out the most. She loved deeply and fiercely—whether it was her family, friends, or neighbors. Edna had a way of making everyone feel seen, valued, and loved, all in her humble and simple way. As we say goodbye today, let’s remember Edna not just for her love of sports or her sharp mind, but for the kindness and love she showed to everyone around her. She was the kind of person who made the world a brighter, better place simply by being in it. Edna was preceded in death by her husband Keith and her son Locksley. She is survived by her children, Marcia and Anthony, daughters-in-law Pamela and Faithlyn, and her five grandchildren: Lakiea, Daniel, Kimberly, Meca ,and Brandon. She also leaves behind four great-grandchildren: Caleb, Kiana, Micah, and Phoenix; her sister-in-law Lisa (aka Peang); numerous nieces and nephews; her childhood friend Clarice Smith; and many other friends. We will miss you, Edna. Your passion, your intelligence, and your love will remain with us always. Thank you for being a part of our lives. May her soul rest in peace.
