Lt Col Edward William Peters Jr. (Bill)
Bill passed away peacefully on September 6, 2022. He was Born June 1, 1931 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of the late Edward William and the late Martha Elizabeth Peters. Bill is proceeded in death by his sister Betty Anne and his son Thomas William Peters.
Bill graduated from West Chester Teachers College and married his college sweetheart, Barbara June Shetzline in October 1954. He enlisted in the Air Force the same year. As a career Air Force pilot and instructor Bill had many exciting and courageous missions flying T-6, T-33, F-100 aircraft.
Bill was a devoted family man, member of the St. Matthews United Methodist Church in Bowie, MD and Day Spring United Methodist Church in Tempe, AZ. He sang in both church choirs, as well as with the Bowie Knights of Harmony Barbershop chorus.
Bill’s interests include international travel with Barbara covering more than 50 countries. Each trip well documented with photographs, scrapbooks and notes.
Bill performed a frame up restoration of a 1936 Ford Truck. The restoration took over 10 years to complete and is truly a work of art.
Bill is survived by his wife of 68 years, Barbara and son Robert Edward Peters of Chester, MD, grandchildren Timothy Edward Peters of Hagerstown, MD, Robert Thomas Peters of Upperco, MD and Kristin Elizabeth Lee of Arvada, CO and great grandchildren Wyatt, Macy, Sam, Oliver and Harper.
