Effie E. Hubbard

Effie Elizabeth Hubbard, formerly Effie McCarron, 80, passed away on April 5, 2025, due to complications of a hemorrhagic stroke. Effie, who many called Fe, was born on December 17, 1944, in Newport News, Va. She went to Warwick High School, graduating in 1963. Effie is preceded in death (2004) by her beloved husband Wayne Hubbard, who she married in 1967. Together they lived in England and then Australia before becoming permanent residents of Gambrills, MD.

Effie is survived by her son Michael Hubbard and his wife Maria of Huntingtown, her daughter Jill Gore and her husband Russell of Crofton, and three granddaughters Madison Seifert (and her husband Cal), Cameron Gore, and Morgan Gore. Effie is preceded in death by her two brothers James "Jimmy" McCarron and Peter "Buddy" McCarron of Newport News, VA.

Effie enjoyed gardening, cooking and quilting. She was known to bake or prepare meals for individuals who were sick, sad, or just because. She was a member of the Odenton Quilt club for 43 years. With her quilt group, she made quilts for Veterans, sewed pillowcases for pediatric hospital patients, and made other charitable sewing projects.

A private family service and burial will take place at the Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, MD. Memorial contributions can be made to The American Cancer Society, a charity Effie continued to support in memory of her husband Wayne.
