Elizabeth C. Smith "Betty"

Elizabeth C. Smith “Betty”, 85, of Crofton, MD passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2018.  Betty was born on October. 6, 1933 in Washington, DC to Madge and Harry Heflin, sister to the late Anna Mae Humphrey. 

Betty married the love of her life the late Thomas Smith “Buzzy” and had two daughters Kay and Peggy. Betty and Buzzy were married for over 50 years.  When he became paralyzed, the two embraced life to the fullest.  Betty was devoted to her husband being the sole care giver for 36+ years. Betty stayed by his side thru his last years in the Crofton Convalescent Home, where she spent every day with him. 

Family was the most important part of her life.  She leaves behind her daughters, Kay Flickinger and Peggy Childs, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Family will receive friends on Friday, December 21, 2018 from 10am to 11am at Ascension Catholic Church, 12700 Lanham Severn Rd, Bowie, MD where a memorial service will take place at 11am. Inurnment Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Stroke Association, 6405 Metcalf Ave, Ste 214, Overland Park, KS 66202.
