Ellen Naomi McCorkle was born on April 10, 1946 in Mount Holly, New Jersey. She departed this life peacefully on January 7, 2022.

She was the daughter of the late Howard U Savage Sr. and mother Emma (Dorsey) Savage and grew up in Woodbury, New Jersey.  She graduated from Woodbury High School in 1964. She received her master’s degree in Education from Bowie State University.  Ellen was an avid educator and had a long-distinguished career, that was her passion and she retired in the Maryland State Education System. She had special certifications in Elementary and Middle School, Guidance Counseling, Pupil Personnel and Special Education.

Ellen was affectionately known as “Sissy” by her family. She has had the nickname since she was a very young child.  Sissy has always loved to travel, especially to her timeshare in Williamsburg, Virginia where she would get in her car and just drive. Her favorite times were dining out, shopping and visiting friends.

Ellen married the love of her life Charles McCorkle on June 14, 2003, they both cherished their life together and built a strong marriage based on a solid spiritual foundation.  Ellen had a passion for education; she believed that knowledge was power.  This passion moved her and Charles to examine the bible closely. Through their studies with Jehovah’s Witnesses, Ellen  and Charles both dedicated their lives to Jehovah God and were baptized together on June 13, 2009.  Her love and devotion to Jehovah God was evident through her zeal for the ministry and the genuine love she showed to all. 

In addition to her parents , she was preceded in death by her husband Charles McCorkle who passed away in July 2019. Her brother Sagamore Stewart recently passed on December 21, 2021.

She is survived by her son Wayne Stewart, brother,  Howard (Tish) Savage Jr, nieces, Kia, Krystal, nephew, Ian and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
