Emeline Wanda Mezzack
September 12, 1928 – February 14, 2021
Emeline “Emmy” Wanda Mezzack (nee Bak) of Millersville, MD, died February 14, 2021. Loving
mother of Robert (Marjorie), Janet (Nicholas), Sharon, and Linda (Robert). Preceded in death by
devoted husband Henry and daughter Kathleen. Beloved “Baci” of 10 grandchildren and 15 great
grandchildren. Emmy was born in Great Barrington, MA, the youngest of 8 children to Katherine
and Thomas Bak. After growing up in Fort Wayne, IN, she returned to Pittsfield, MA where she
worked as a hairdresser before meeting and marrying Henry Mezzack in 1950. A dedicated
military wife, she followed Henry to multiple station assignments throughout the United States,
including CA, NY, TX, and MS, finally settling in Bowie, MD where they lived and raised their family
for over 40 years before moving to Perkinsville, VT in 2005. After Henry’s retirement in 1983,
Emmy became a full-time partner in Henry’s First Day cover business, H&M Covers. Together
they traveled the country to participate in stamp and cover trade shows, building up a devoted
following and lifelong friendships. A woman of great faith, she was strong willed but
compassionate, supportive but firm, sweet and occasionally salty. Emmy was a force of nature
whose deep and abiding love of family could never be questioned. She will be deeply missed and
remembered with love. Family will receive friends at the Beall Funeral Home, 6512 Crain Hwy
(Rte. 3 South), Bowie, MD on Saturday, February 27, 2021 from 2 to 4pm. A Catholic Mass and
burial services at Arlington Cemetery will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family
requests donations be made to Bayada Foundation Hospice Fund,
https://donatenow.networkforgood.org/1441751.
