Evelyn McCleary Henry, age 85, of Suitland, Maryland passed away on April 27, 2022.

Evelyn was born on May 10, 1936 in Kingston Jamaica, WI and was sponsored by her mother Daisy May Owens enabling her to migrate to the United States in the year 1967 and two years later she was able to sponsor her then husband, Antonio McCleary to the U.S.  A year and a half later she was able to bring her two daughters (Evelyn and Antoinette (Ann) and her grandmother, Evelyn McNish to the U.S.                                                                                                                  

Evelyn worked in a printing shop in Washington, DC and then went on to get her nursing assistant certificate.  She enjoyed working with the elderly and retired from the Jewish Social Service Agency after an injury in 1987.

In 1986 she married Lindsay Henry and lived in Silver Spring, MD until 1998 and then they moved to Ft. Lauderdale, FL where she remained until he passed away August 10, 2012.  Her daughters convinced her to move back to Maryland in 2014.

In 1996 Evelyn became a proud citizen of the United States.

Evelyn is survived by her three daughters, Evelyn Burns, Ann McCleary-Heron and Diane McCleary and two son-in-law’s William Burns and Gladstone Heron; three granddaughters, Leisha Cousar, Crystal McCauley and Teisha Clark; and eight great grandchildren Za’Rajuia Cousar, NiYhla Cousar, Jhyier Cousar, Jaden McCauley, Isaiah McCauley, Sean McCauley, Erin McCauley, Darryl Clark Jr. and a host of other family members.

Visitation and service for family and friends will be held on May 12, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 NW Crain Highway, Bowie, Maryland, 20715.
