Frances Conner, of Bowie, was called home on October 18, 2022, following a long illness. She was 76. While she fought for her health for more than a decade, her passing was sudden and unexpected following a short stay at Anne Arundel Medical Center.
Fran was a loving wife of 51 years. She is survived by her husband, Richard Conner. Knowing Fran was to hear her yell out “Richard, Richard, Richard.” Her frequent chant just meant she wanted him by her side. And he was. Richard was the primary caretaker as she suffered so many setbacks with mental illness and lung cancer (as a nonsmoker). Her other greatest role in life was mother to two loving daughters, Kelly Sheetz, of Pasadena, and Cheryl Costello, of Annapolis. Fran is survived by five grandchildren. Kelly’s children are Savannah Sheetz, 17, Landon Sheetz, 13, and Austin Sheetz, 8. Cheryl’s children are Giovanni Costello, 5, and Domenic Costello, 19 months. Fran’s son-in-laws, Stan Sheetz and Jamie Costello love her like their own.
After graduating from high school, the small-town girl from Paw Paw, WV, took quite the journey to the suburbs of Washington, DC, where she lived and went to work in the big city as a budget analyst for the Department of Veterans Affairs. In retirement, Fran loved exercising, shopping, bowling, traveling and most of all being with her family. She lived for spending time with her family. Her faith in God gives us great comfort, knowing she is living pain free.
Fran was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Beulah Brelsford, sisters, Ruby Cooper and Wilda Avey, and brothers, Russell and Wayne Brelsford.
The family wishes to hold a private service on October 28, her birthday.
