FRANCES M. (SUTPHIN) MONTGOMERY, born in Myrtlepoint, Oregon passed away on November 25, 2023 at the age of 69. She was preceded in death by her mother (Agnes Cheri), father (Dewey Leo Sutphin, Sr.), step-dad (Sam Cheri), and long-time significant other Ricky Portzen. She is survived by her 4 sisters and 1 brother: Joan Jones (Tom), Betty Emelio, Dewey Sutphin (Sheila), Deborah Stoutsenberger (Bill), Beverly (Sutphin) Sabol, and daughter Angela Woodward (Kevin). Also, she is survived by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many friends and relatives.
God called our beautiful sister Frances (Franny) Montgomery home. She spent most of her adult life in White Plains, MD where she shared a home with Ricky Portzen for almost 4 decades before his passing 10 years ago. They loved each other very much and enjoyed spending time with friends either at family gatherings or stopping by the Paddock where their friends would be gathering. The two of them also enjoyed going on vacation whether it was cruising or going to North Carolina to visit family.
Franny was only 69 years young but lived her life to the fullest and her way. She truly spoke her mind and her many friends knew if they wanted an honest response, they would talk to her. According to Franny, she had a way of “telling it like it was” and if you didn’t like it oh well. To truly know her was to love her.
She retired from the LaPlata post office after decades and enjoyed working with her co-workers. She had high work ethics and would show up even in snow storms and would laugh about the post office “motto” all the time and would say it was easy for management to say because they weren’t the ones coming in or out here delivering the mail. Franny also enjoyed Bowling on the league with her mother and sisters and many friends. She also liked to play Bingo at times. Franny loved to going out to eat Crabs at Sandgate with her friends.
We all have fond memories of Franny whether it was just hanging out with her or going places throughout the years.
Franny is at peace now in Heaven with Mom (Agnes), Pop (Sam), Ricky and all of her loved ones that went before her.
God speed Franny – fly high we “LOVE” you and you will be “MISSED” by so many!
