Francis (Buck) Edward White of Crofton, Maryland. June 20, 1932 - January 23, 2025
We celebrate a life fully lived…
Buck grew up living and working on a farm and graduated from Surrattsville High School in 1950, before deciding to join the US Army.
Buck, a true patriot at heart, was proud to serve in the Anti-Aircraft Artillery Brigade in the US Army based in Norfolk, Virginia. His role with the brigade suited him well as witnessed with his Medal of Good Conduct during his years of service, and of course, an honorable discharge. Regardless of his responsibilities, he was always humble. His belief was simple – he was willing to and wished to serve for a country in which he so believed.
Buck’s natural ability to get along with anyone, coupled with his good-tempered approach, served him well over the next 30 years in a career with the PG County Board of Education where he organized and supervised several school bus lots, such as Brandywine, Accokeek, and Friendly. He was rewarded over the years, having garnered respect by his supervisors and those working alongside him.
His love of family and the extension of community shown through over the years – spending countless hours coaching the girls’ soccer teams and other activities for the Clinton Boys and Girls Clubs. Spending time with his family, his loving wife, and many dear friends had him engaged in square dancing and camping with various clubs.
Francis (Buck) Edward White of Crofton, Maryland, passed away on January 23, 2025. He was born on June 20, 1932 to parents Benjamin Edward White and Mary Myrtle Tayman of Clinton, Maryland.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Pat White; his daughter, Jacquline White; two stepchildren, Ken Bassett and Donna Biggs; 13 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Evelyn White and Margaret Theresa White; three children, Debbie Thorne, Diane Cook, and James White; and a grandson, Gene Thorne.
He was a very thoughtful, kind, and compassionate person to everyone he met.
He will be truly missed by all.
