Frank E. Gay

Mr. Frank Edward Gay, 83, of Bowie, MD passed on March 23, 2024 to a courageous battle to stage 4 bone cancer. He was the loving husband of Eileen Gay, son of the late Henry and Rose Gay, brother to John Gay and late Henry Gay. 

Frank was a proud United States Marine then took on a career as a Communication Specialist at the National Security Agency where he was recognized and awarded for many accomplishments. Though after retirement, he didn’t slow all the way down, he worked part-time at Laurel Golf and Recreation for many years and made lots of great friends. Frank loved spending time with his family, boating, fishing, traveling, golfing, hunting, camping, baseball, bowling, darts, bird watching from his recliner and he never left a crossword puzzle unfinished! He even taught himself to play the guitar! Frank was also an award-winning marksman while serving in the Marines.

Frank was a long-time active member with the American Legion (where he served as Sergeant of Arms, Finance Officer, Chaplin and many years on the executive committee…not to mention the countless hours of volunteering), the Elks Lodge, the Moose, NRA and B.A.S.S. 

Surviving in addition to his wife and brother is his son, Anthony Gay (life-long soulmate Jamie Persels), daughters Sandra Granger and Pamela Chandler, step-daughter Renee Johnson (late husband Chuck), late step-son Jeff Baum, granddaughter Angela Dodson (husband Adam) along with additional family members. 

Funeral services will be held at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 2:30pm. There will be a celebration of life gathering immediately following the funeral at the Post 7 American Legion in Annapolis, MD. 1905 Crownsville Rd. Annapolis, MD 21401.
