Fred Robert Green

Fred was called home to our Lord on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at the Medstar Harbor Hospital in Baltimore, MD. He was born on August 17, 1946 in Sibley Hospital in Washington, DC to Roy Green and Mary Ann Green. Fred grew up in Bradbury Heights, MD just across the Washington, DC line in MD. He attended Bradbury Heights Elementary School, Suitland Junior High School and graduated from Suitland High School in 1964. Fred attended Junior College for several special classes. During the military draft era he enlisted in the Air Force reserves and active duty, from 1965 to 1971. He received citations of duty, letters of recognition and many certificates for special training.

As a young man he worked for various grocery stores. As an adult he worked as a Contract Analyst for the U.S. Department of Interior in Washington DC where he retired after 20 years. After his retirement from the federal government Fred worked for the Maryland Motor Vehicle retiring from there in 2007.

Fred married Susan Rebecca Lance in 1977 and settled in Owings, MD. They enjoyed a plentiful life until her passing in October 2015 at the age of 67. He and Susan were devout Christians and supported many charities. Having no children of his own he received special joy from young people who befriended him.

Fred’s greatest hobby was his love of American Indian Heritage, he collected countless authentic Indian artifacts.

Fred is survived by his brother Roy W. Green and his wife Dorothy Marie Green and his nephew James Michael Green.

Fred will be greatly missed by all who called him family or friend.

Family will receive friends on Friday, January 17, 2020 from 10am to 12pm at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 NW Crain Hwy. (Rt. 3 South), Bowie, MD followed by a funeral service at 12pm. Interment Resurrections Cemetery, Clinton, MD
