Freddie Douglas Mitchell, Jr.

Ret. Cmdr. Freddie D. Mitchell, Jr. of College Park, MD, passed away on October 25, 2020. His lovely wife, Levesta Phillips Mitchell, of 66 years and College Park, MD, joined him in heaven on November 7, 2020. They met while attending Morgan State University. Their long-enduring love afforded them to enjoy a wonderful and long career for Freddie in the military and with the National Insitute of Health, where he retired. While at Morgan State University, Freddie pledged and was a lifelong member of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity. Levesta, was a very loving, caring mother who had established a career as a teacher and administrator. They are survived by their daughter, Denise(Jesse Kingsberry), his sister, Doreatha Williams, sister-in-law, Shirley Mitchell(John Mitchell), Catherine Best(Donald Best), and a host of nieces and nephews. The family is hoping to have a private burial at Arlington National Cemetery in the Spring of 2021
