Frederick Alfred Benjamin otherwise known as Steady or Ben went home on January 17th 2021, after a brief battle with cancer.
He was born on June 24th, 1948 in Kingston, Jamaica, to the late Uriah and Zelphy Morgan Brown.
Frederick migrated from Jamaica to the United States in 1990. He worked in different fields before settling in as a Special Police Officer at Hospital For Sick Children in Washington D.C. Within 2 years of working at HSC he was promoted to supervisor of his unit and worked twenty years before retiring in 2017. He returned to HSC and did a short stint before finally handing in his gloves in September 2019.
Frederick is survived by special friend Patricia Suel, four children, Janet, Lorraine, Christopher and Michael. Eleven Grandchildren, Two Great Grandchildren, three brothers, sisters-in law, daughter-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends.
The family is comforted that in the final days he committed his life to Christ.
A public viewing will be held on Friday January 29th 2021 at Judah Temple A.M.E Zion Church at 14500 Mt. Oak Rd, Bowie ,MD 20721 from 10:00- 11:00 A.M.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions a private service will be held for the immediate family
from 11:00 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. The ceremony can be viewed on- line at
