Bowie, MD – Gary E. Imler, 77, passed away on Monday, April 19, 2021, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He was a longtime resident of Bowie, Md.
Gary was born March 15, 1944 in Harrisburg, PA, to Earl and Lorna Imler. He graduated from Middletown High School in 1962, and then attended and graduated from Lock Haven State College, in January of 1967. Following graduation, Gary worked as an elementary school physical education teacher for thirty-three years in the Prince George’s County Public School system, at Catherine T. Reed Elementary in Lanham, MD, and then an additional six years at Concordia Lutheran in Hyattsville, MD, retiring in June of 2005.
Gary is survived by his wife, Patricia Giles; his son, Erik Imler (Claudine); his two stepsons, Andrew Giles and Alexander Giles (Danielle); and his four grandchildren, Jordan Imler, Evan Imler, Ainsley Giles, and Timothy Giles.
A private funeral service will be held at Sacred Heart Chapel in Bowie, Md., and services are entrusted to Beall Funeral Home, Bowie, Md. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Gary’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, online at alz.org, or by mail to Alzheimer’s Association, P.O.
