The family requested No Flowers. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in George's name to one of the following:
George J. Laboissonniere, age 78, passed away after 2 years of declining health. Our family knows George went peacefully in his home. George was a loving, caring, wonderful husband, father of two children and Grandpa to five grandchildren.
George grew up in Rhode Island. He graduated from college and enlisted in the Air Force in the early 60's. He spent his military career at Aviano Air Force Base in the province of Pordenone, Italy. In 1967 he and his first wife Tina moved to Maryland.
He worked for DC Transit as an accountant and continued his accounting career for the Washington Metropolitan Transit Authority, when WMATA took over the regional bus companies. He retired in December 1998. In the spring of 1999 he started working for the Bowie Bay Sox, the AA Baseball Team for the Orioles. He enjoyed the Baysox experience very much - baseball was his favorite sport. The Boston Red Sox were his favorite team from his years growing up in Rhode Island.
George and his wife Joanne (of 40 years) loved to travel, read, spend time and travel with the family, shared interest in the Civil War and history in general, enjoyed older movies and enjoyed 4 rescue poodles over 40 years. "Buddy" our special one is now 10 1/2 years old and is missing his "Daddy" very much.
George is greatly missed and as the Bowie Baysox season begins in April 2019, many fans will be asking about him, as he will not be at the main gate to take their tickets. He has met many people in his 20 years there and he enjoyed every day.
