Gladys Boluda, 89, of Bowie Maryland passed away peacefully in her home on November 22, 2022.
Gladys Perez Heredia was born in Havana, Cuba to Olga Heredia and Benjamin Perez on August 21, 1933. When she was only 15 years old she met the love of her life, Miguel Boluda Garcia, and the couple married in 1953. They lived in Havana, where their first three children were born. In 1962, with her husband forced to remain behind in Cuba, Gladys and her young children immigrated to the United States, residing in Miami, Florida. Once her husband was able to reunite with them in 1963, the family moved to Maryland and eventually bought their current home in Bowie, where they raised their family and lived for over 50 years. Gladys worked in the Accounting Department of the Robert J. Brady Company for many years and was also a key member and founder of a Hispanic nonprofit, Circulo Cubano de Maryland, whose mission was to celebrate Cuban culture and community. Gladys had a passion for dancing, was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing all kinds of games, including canasta and dominos. During her lifetime, she and her husband enjoyed the company of many friends as they traveled extensively around the world. Most of all, she was extremely proud of the accomplishments of her family, and cherished the time she spent with her children and caring for her grandchildren. She was especially fond of watching her grandkids excel in sports, music and other school activities.
Gladys is preceded in death by her husband, Miguel Boluda Sr., with whom she was married to for 57 years, her daughter Gladys Boluda, and her brother Dr. Arturo Perez. She is survived by her children, José (Lee Ann) Boluda, Miguel (Beverly) Boluda, Delia (Andy) Robey, and son-in-law Michael Curry; her grandchildren, Jessica (Andy), Amy, Christine (Brian), Sarah, Alaina (Robbie), Miguel (Léo), Megan (Ricky), Emily, Andrew, Alexandra; and three great-grandchildren Sophie, Zach, and Lily. She is also survived by her sister, Alicia Erpelding, and many nieces and nephews.
