Gloria A. Cleaver (“Muzz”) passed away peacefully at 94 years old at Harbor Hospice Center with her son Jay at her side on the First Day of Spring, March 20, 2025, of complications from a broken hip.
Gloria A. Cleaver was born in Dundalk, Maryland on November 2, 1930, the daughter of Arthur and Leona Hanna. She grew up with her 4 siblings in Dundalk. Gloria married the Love of Her Life, John Cleaver on November 11, 1949. John passed away in September of 2009 and Gloria lived comfortably at Charlestown Retirement Center, visiting friends and spending time with her 6 Great Grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her youngest son, Martin who passed away suddenly on February 12, 2025. She is survived by her oldest son, Jay A. Cleaver, his wife and Daughter-In-Law Debbie Wojciehowski and Granddaughter, Jamie Lauren Desjardins, and Grandson, Matthew Almoney Cleaver, and Danny Cleaver as well as 7 Great Grandkids.
Mom was a force of nature—kind yet strong, wise yet always learning, loving yet fiercely independent. She taught me everything that truly matters: the value of kindness, the strength in patience, and the power of love that never wavers. I don’t think I ever heard her say an unkind word about anyone.
Her laughter filled every room, always the joke teller with her friends at Charlestown. She never missed an opportunity to tell you about her hit & run car accident when she was 4, and show you her legal size paper jammed full of all the operations she had over the years. I referred to her as "Bionic Mom"
Her hands built a lifetime of warmth, and her heart was always open to those in need. She was not just my mother but my greatest teacher, my fiercest protector, my music supporter and critic... and my dearest friend.
