Gloria S. Eng, 85, beloved wife of Vincent, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2020. She was born in Canton province in China and emigrated to the United States in 1966 and settled in NYC with her husband and three young children.
Gloria was an amazing "can do" woman with many talents. She arrived in America knowing minimal English. Yet, while caring for 3 children, she enrolled in classes and earned a GED. Gloria honed her sewing skills in the garment industry and attended classes at the renowned Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC. She performed so well that she was hired as a sample pattern maker for a fashion designer. Gloria also used her skills in sewing clothes for her daughters.
In her 50's, she poured her energies in learning and mastering the art of Chinese landscape painting Many of her works have earned awards and have been displayed at Chinese art exhibits in NYC.
At home, Gloria had an unbelievable "green thumb" and her roses were spectacular as well as her vegetable garden that produced a bountiful array of Chinese vegetables. She also was an excellent cook - whipping up traditional Chinese dishes as well as popular American cuisine.
Her life is exemplary. She worked hard, pursued her passions, and lavished love on her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In recent years, her precious smile always appeared when she was spending time with the great grandchildren.
