Memorial to Our beautiful mother Helen Guidice, 96 year's old of Spring Arbor Assisted Living in Severna Park Maryland, who passed away on April 20, 2022 after living a celebrated long life. A discerning woman of exquisite taste, she was always her usual smiling self always beautifully dressed.
Helen was born on August 25,1925 to Italian immigrant parents Andrew Accardi and Nunzia Bozzomo, in Phillipsburg, New Jersey. She grew up in Brooklyn New York during the post-depression era. When the United States entered World War II, men were shipped overseas to serve in the war. This left many of the civilian and military jobs on the home front unfilled and that's when young Helen stepped up and performed clerical work in the big city of New York. The call for working women was intended to only apply during the war. At the war’s end, even though Helen enjoyed her job, she was forced out by men returning home. She enjoyed this time of city life and USO dances.
When times are tough, you are less likely to be missing out on a good paying job then by being in school. In 1952, Helen met and married Vincent A. Guidice. Helen and Vince went on to have two children, Thomas and Doria Guidice. It wasn't till they both graduated high school that she pursued a GED and went on with a career working for Maryland Prince George's County and their police department. In 1992, Helen retired. She was active in her senior year's taking countless trips with her senior groups. Our mother loved music, plays, dancing, traveling. Her greatest joy was always being with her family any time she could.
She was the youngest of seven siblings. Helen was predeceased by all of her sibling family members. She is survived by her children, Thomas (Michelle) and Doria (Michael) grandchildren Michael (Brigette), Caleb and great-grandchild Luke.
Helen Guidice was the best mother, wife, Grandma, and friend a son, daughter, husband and grandchild could ever dream of having. We were so lucky to have you in our lives. We love and miss you deeply, Mom! God Bless your soul. Until we meet again.
