Helen C. Neff

Helen passed away peacefully at the age of 87 from natural causes on 09/07/2020.

Helen Antionette Cruickshanks was born in Mt Vernon, New York to Walter Sharp & Evangeline Ruth Cruickshanks. They lived in Ohio from early in her life until her high school years. The family then moved from Ohio to Worcester, MA.  After graduating high school in MA, Helen returned to Ohio to attend college at Ohio State University. Helen graduated in 1954 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She began her nursing career at the OSU hospital and spent her adult life enjoying her nursing positions in various locations. She retired from nursing in 2010 after serving for many years in Tuberculosis Control for Prince George's County, MD.

Helen Cruickshanks Neff was married to Robert "Bob" Alfred Neff for 52 wonderful years. Bob was an officer in the Air Force and that enabled them to enjoy traveling to many places as often as possible. Over the years, they & the family resided in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Spain, England & Maryland.

Helen and Bob were the loving parents to ,Judy (Steve) Nabinger, Patsy (Don) Lee, Alan (Nancy) Neff, and Lesley Johnson. They were very proud of their grandchildren Billy, Ryan (Amanda), Christina (Bryce), Jessica, Matthew, Jonathan and Ben. Also blessed to be Great-grandparents to Autumn, Aleah, Alex, and Lorenzo.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband Robert Alfred Neff, her parents Walter & Ruth Cruickshanks and her sister Elizabeth Jean Agnew.

Thursday, September 24th, 2020, a public viewing will be held at 1pm and public funeral service followed at 2pm. These will be held at Grace Baptist Church 7610 Race Track Rd, Bowie, MD 20715. The sanctuary allows space for adequate social distancing. A private interment will be at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham, MD on Friday, September 25, 2020.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Helen's honor to Grace Baptist Church 7610 Race Track Rd, Bowie, MD 20715, for the Benevolence Fund.
