Helen Rita Thompson

It’s with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Helen Rita Thompson, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Helen was born on August 14, 1943, and passed away peacefully on August 5, 2024.

Helen was predeceased by her husband, Jack I. Thompson Sr., and her father and mother, Anthony and Elizabeth Latini.

Helen, the third daughter of 6 girls, will be greatly missed. She was well-liked and passionate about cooking, painting, and collecting depression glass. Her love for hand dancing was evident in her dedication to the D.C. Hand Club and frequent dance attendance. She was excellent at it, and it was her favorite pastime. Her love for fashionable jewelry was evident, as she always adorned herself with earrings, necklaces, bracelets, watches, and as many rings as possible, usually 2-3 on each hand.

A service to honor and celebrate Helen’s life will be held on Monday, August 19, 2024, at St. Thomas Episcopal Parish, 14300 St. Thomas Church Road, Upper Marlboro, Maryland 20772. The visitation will be from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m., and the service will be at 12:00 p.m.
