Howard R. Bullock, a native of Baltimore Maryland was born on May 16, 1943, to the late Eleanor and Buddy Bullock.
He attended Howard University and was a cadet in the mandatory basic ROTC Program. While there, he displayed outstanding qualities of leadership and notable academic achievement. In 1966 he was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree and graduated as a distinguished military graduate. Howard received a commission into the Army as a Second Lieutenant of the Infantry. He also holds a Master of Science degree in Systems Management from the University of Southern California.
His various assignments took him to many countries. He even earned a Black belt while on tour in Korea.
Howard later returned from overseas and was stationed at the Pentagon. He became active in his community and joined the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bowie, MD. He served as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist, he was on the parish council and served on the Archdiocesan Pastoral Council. He also volunteered for the parish picnic each year.
Howard retired from the Army as a Lieutenant Colonel and a Vietnam veteran in 1987. He moved his family to North Carolina, where he fulfilled his dream of living in a gated golf club community. He said that he wanted to be a golf bum and live life to the fullest. Unfortunately, after four years, his health declined. He moved back to Maryland to be near his family. He continued to have health issues while showing courage and perseverance in facing challenges with resilience and strength.
Howard lost his health battles and passed away on June 11, 2021, at the age of 78, while in hospice at Casey House in Rockville, MD.
He is survived by his wife, Zetharay Bullock, his children Jennifer and Aaron, and their spouses Aaron and Michele. Four grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive him. In addition, he is survived by his sister Aletha Bullock, nieces and uncles, and a host of other friends and relatives.
The family is requesting donations to be made to the following charities,
Wounded Warriors Project or St. Jude's Children's Hospital in place of flowers.
