OBITUARY OF HOWARD LEON SPRIGGS

Howard Leon Spriggs, 68, of Middlesboro Kentucky passed away unexpectedly at UMD Health Center on October 13th, 2021 while recovering from an earlier surgery.
Howard was born February 01, 1953 in Middlesboro Kentucky at the Middlesboro Hospital to Robert Spriggs and Mary Neal. As he was in the Army, Howard lived in various locations but eventually settled in Fort Meade, MD.


He graduated from Middlesboro High School and went to obtain his associates degree. Howard was presented a certificate upon his retirement from the Government of the United States of America following Forty-Two years of service in the United States Army and United States Fish and Wildlife Service and was recognized for being a loyal patriot.
Howard loved sports and enjoyed supporting his favorite NFL team the San Francisco 49’ers, college football team the Kentucky Wildcats, and MLB team the Atlanta Braves. Some of the things that brought him joy was playing lottery numbers, buying scratch offs, and enjoying social hour with his friends and Army brothers. He often spent time with his long-time friend of over fifty years, Eugene Cooper, “CC”

Howard is survived by his wife of 15 years, Tracy D. Spriggs, a daughter Sherona Arleana Williams, a daughter Kristy Leanna Woods, a son Howard Leon Spriggs II., a step-son Demitrius William Johnson, a step-son Tommy James Ceasar II, a step-son Fremon Batiste Ceasar, a step-son Issac Ra’Mel Ceasar, a granddaughter Lasoshia Miller, a grandson Christopher Spriggs, a granddaughter Shakiyla Edwards, a grandson Deion Ty’ray Williams, a grandson Demarcus Edwards, a grandson Kavante Javar Akani Green, a granddaughter Mishayla Jhane Woods, a granddaughter Cierra Anna Marie Spriggs, a granddaughter Jaliyah Lashelle Spriggs. He is also survived by great-grandchildren and a sister Minerva Ann Spriggs.

As a veteran, Howard will receive a military funeral honors ceremony, to include folding and presenting the United States burial flag and the playing of “Taps” held at some time in the near future.
