James Manning McDonough

James “Jim” McDonough, age 65, died surrounded by his family of complications from Wilson’s disease on September 21, 2024, at George Washington University Hospital. Jim is survived by his wife, Lisa and their three children; Megan, Hailey, and Kyle, his sister, Maggie (Todd), and his brother, Joe, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and family members.

He was born on May 30, 1959 at Columbia Presbyterian in New York, New York, to parents Donald and Mary. He grew up in Chevy Chase, Maryland and graduated from Bethesda-Chevy Chase High school in 1977. He graduated from University of Maryland in 1984 with a degree in History. He worked at Network Building and Consulting as a Senior Site Acquisition Specialist. 

Jim was a family man. He coached and attended various sports his children participated in. He loved beach vacations, throwing holiday parties, and any sporting event. Throughout his life, he played on numerous softball teams, many rounds of golf, and was always up for a pick-up game of basketball. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed discussing DC or UMD sports teams. Jim was an animal lover and spent much of his life surrounding himself with beloved dogs and cats. 

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Mary McDonough, as well as his older brother, Mike McDonough. 

Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 pm on October 27, 2024 at Knights of Columbus in Silver Spring, MD.
